Fruit Hill Holiday Cottages - The Coach House, Kirby's & The Garden Cottage

The farm cottages at Fruit Hill, Campile near New Ross in County Wexford make an ideal base for exploring Ireland's South East region, and offer a unique retreat from the rest of the world. All are comfortable, well equipped, tastefully decorated and surrounded by gardens, woodland full of wildlife, and open pastures.

At Fruit Hill you can observe the daily life of an old fashioned working farm, make friends with the peacocks, explore the garden, or just put your feet up in front of the fire and read a book.

Across the garden is Fruit Hill House built around 1730. Having fallen into ruin in the 1940's, it is currently under restoration and is the home of the Devane family.

A short ferry trip across the estuary brings you to Waterford with its famous crystal glass factory. Wexford is about 40 minutes away, and the Medieval city of Kilkenny is a scenic one hour drive from Campile/ Local pubs have regular music sessions and there are several very good restaurants in the area.

Golf, fishing, riding and sailing are available in the neighbourhood and there are 14 sandy beaches within easy driving distance (10-25 minutes). Historical sites include 12th century abbeys, The Hook Lighthouse, Duncannon Fort and the Tall Ship "Dunbrody". J.F. Kennedy Arboretum, Dunbrody Abbey and Kilmokea Gardens are nearby.

The Coach House (3 bedrooms) at Fruit Hill is one of three holiday cottages in the grounds of Fruit Hill House, a 300 year old estate set in secluded tree-lined pastures near the Waterford Estuary. It is a comfortable family house with generous- sized rooms, surrounded by lawned gardens and mature trees. Because of the free-ranging tame peacocks, pets cannot be accommodated, but children and adults alike will be charmed by this remarkable haven.

The Garden Cottage (1 bedroom) in the grounds of Fruit Hill House makes a delightful retreat from the world, surrounded by trees, farmland and lawns with strolling peacocks. It features a 300 year old stone fire place with a brick bread oven to one side (all cooking and other facilities are up to modern standards however). It has a tiny gallery bedroom with a winding stair, making it very romantic and quaint, though not really suitable for the elderly or infirm.

Kirby's (2 bedrooms) A traditional stone-built stable block converted in 2008 and consisting of two bedrooms (one twin, one king-size double) with a bright and airy kitchen-cum-livingroom. There is an open fire, a magnificent view over Wexford farm land, and the cottage is fully equiped for a very comfortable holiday.
